At the Washington, DC Kennedy Center in July 2008. John Williams was the guest conductor for the Marine Band 210th anniversary concert. Being a very big fan of John Williams, it was extra special to sit in the second row just behind the conductor's box as many of his film scores were performed including Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jaws, E.T., Superman, and Harry Potter. Visiting Apache Leap again near Superior, AZ in February 2008. As a teen, I climbed this sheer mountain (over 2,000 ft) then hiked several miles in the desert.

McDowell III at the historical marker dedication of the original Mount Pleasant schoolhouse built in 1830. As the historical society founder and chairperson, I initiated the marker to be commissioned with a dedication ceremony on May 18, 2007.
