SABBATICAL: Oct 2015--; My working sabbatical in Florida "...for Philosophical Studies and Amusements" (Benjamin Franklin describing his midlife sabbatical).

I have always enjoyed mixing part-time customer service jobs with professional career for personal balance, learning how other organizations operate and love of casual conversation.  All of these jobs have helped in my thinking processes to solve problems and sharpen social skills.

Universal Studios blog post

Theme Parks blog post

I first visited Universal Studios Florida 110 days after the park initially opened in 1990.

I assisted with many projects at Universal Studios. In 2019, I helped with the "How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World" video booth in the park. For each session, I acted as Director while park guests were my Talent. I shot this with multiple cameras and green screen.

During the 2020-2021 holiday season and pandemic year, I was able to assist at Universal Orlando Resort in many other capacities including Park Services and Attraction Operations.  I worked many ride venues including:

• The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man
• Jurassic Park River Adventure
• The Incredible Hulk Coaster
• Hogwarts Express (both King's Cross Station and Hogsmeade Station)
• Skull Island: Reign of Kong
• The Simpsons Ride
• Transformers: The Ride 3D
• Fast & Furious - Supercharged

February 2021: Accepted the position of Guest Experience Coordinator.  This was a temporary assignment relating to the global pandemic.  GEST (Guest Experience Support Team) was responsible for assisting park guests with proper CDC guidelines in relation to Covid-19 policies. The primary duty was to act as an ambassador for Universal Orlando Resort by communicating, encouraging, and assisting Guests with Covid-19 safety related protocols. A GEST Team Member must be comfortable interacting with large groups of people, speaking on a microphone and must exemplify Universal Orlando’s core values and The Universal Way in all Guest and Team Member interactions.

Summer 2021: Returned to the Events team while assisting in many other roles as the parks recover following global pandemic.

Fall 2021: Auditioned and accepted as both a scareactor and puppeteer for the upcoming Halloween Horror Nights.

BEST BUY

Part-time | Senior Sales Consultant (Aug 2014 - Oct 2019)
For a part-time job, the friendly environment at Best Buy was among my favorites. I was able to engage in great conversations with hundreds of customers during my tenure at three different stores. My customers included Vice President Joe Biden, Hulk Hogan and Shaquille O'Neal. It was a great experience to keep up with the latest consumer electronics and cultivate many friendships.

I was the contracted corporate photographer for the 2019 Best Buy event in Orlando

Best Buy CEO Hubert Joly came over to me and said "You're really good at this!"

SEAWORLD ORLANDO

Part-time | Operations Team Member (Oct 2015 - May 2017)
In 2015 Q3, I decided to follow my heart... to leave the corporate world in the northeast and move to my beloved Florida. I have always had great fondness for our 27th State. During this sabbatical, I took a leisurely job at Sea World.  I worked all positions including control room at the Manta Roller Coaster thrill ride.

WJBR 99.5 FM

Interim position | News Director (Oct 2011 - Feb 2012)
WJBR was the #1 rated radio station in the State of Delaware when asked to fill in as their interim news director. Being in the radio industry, the folks at WJBR knew me and my work. It was fun to be on the air several times each morning for the news since WJBR had been a childhood favorite station of mine. I also helped with several station corporate events as their disc jockey entertainment.

MAUI NIGHTCLUB COMPLEX

Part-time | Light Show Operator (1995)
I was an occasional technician in 1995 for the absolutely stunning dance club light show at Instant Replay, a 70s themed discotheque within the Maui entertainment complex located on the Delaware River in Philadelphia. I frequently worked with the live radio station broadcast on WMGK.

WCHE 1520 AM RADIO

Part-time | Radio On-Air Host (Oct 1991 - Feb 1992)
After my shift at WTGI-61 television, I would drive straight to the studios of WCHE 1520 AM for an on-air radio shift. WCHE was largely a talk format station very locally serving the neighboring community. I aired programs and announced as required.

WTLN 95.3 FM RADIO

Part-time | Radio On-Air Host (Sep 1990 - Jan 1991)
While on the Walt Disney World College Program, I knew some of the people at WTLN radio through my contacts at WVCH. I was given a weekend shift to air programs and music as logged (live, recorded and via satellite feed) and announce as local host.

SUPER*FRESH FOOD MARKETS

Part-time | Cashier (Apr 1988 - Oct 1992 except Florida hiatus)

WVCH 740 AM & WEEE 89.5 FM RADIO

Part-time | Radio Producer, On-Air host (Mar 1987 - Jun 1990)
WVCH was my first FCC licensed radio station for employment. I quickly learned how the business worked. Aside from an announcer, I was the director for a live studio show. I also worked with the company's sister station WEEE.

I was given Phillies Mike Schmidt #20 for my WVCH team jersey

Always the radio enthusiast, it was inevitable that I would obtain a Ham Radio license. When younger, I enjoyed CB Radio conversations and monitoring emergency channels on my scanner.
